Meet The Faces of Smithco: Kim Griffin
Today, we’re excited to introduce you to Kim Griffin, Smithco’s newest Vice President and a long-time member of our team. With over 20 years of dedication to Smithco, Kim has seen the company grow and transform, and she continues to play an integral role in shaping its future.
Kim started at Smithco two decades ago when her children were still young. In the early days, she worked nights, helping with copies and filing. Back then, Smithco managed dealer literature by recreating it on color copiers to avoid the high cost of printing new materials. Kim’s commitment and resourcefulness were clear even in those small but vital tasks, and over the years, her role has expanded tremendously.
One of Kim’s favorite memories is of Mr. Smith himself, who would still come into work for meetings well into his 80s and 90s. “Longevity is huge here,” Kim recalls. “People don’t leave Smithco. They take pride in their work, and that’s something really special.” This sense of dedication and family-like culture is what sets Smithco apart from other companies.
Kim’s day-to-day recently changed with her promotion to Vice President. Collaborating with fellow VPs Jeff and Steven has been both rewarding and essential for Smithco’s success. “We really make a great team,” she says. As one of the few women in a leadership role at Smithco, Kim recognizes the significance of her position. “It’s kind of new for a female to be in management here, and it’s a big deal.”
When asked what she brings to the table, Kim emphasizes her positive mindset. “I have more of a glass-half-full approach. I stay level-headed and even-keeled when challenges arise, which helps me think through solutions rather than react impulsively.” This open-mindedness and optimism are key strengths she brings to her work every day.
What makes Smithco stand out to Kim is the personal touch. “It’s really about the people. When you call the main office, you talk to a real person, not a machine, or get stuck in a queue. That’s rare nowadays, and it’s part of what makes working here so special. Everyone takes ownership of their role, no matter what it is.”
Outside of work, Kim loves spending time with her family. She’s incredibly proud of her high school sweetheart of a husband of 25 years Ryan and her two kids, daughter, Ryleigh (23) and son Mason (21). As her children grow up, she’s found a new love for gardening and tending to her greenhouse at home. “Plants and family keep me grounded,” she shares with a smile.

In her role as Vice President, Kim is primarily responsible for managing Smithco’s finances, overseeing factory operations, financial statements, and making sure new initiatives are financially sustainable. She finds great joy in this work, knowing that she’s caring for the company’s future by ensuring its financial health.
